I’ve always appreciated bokeh in photographs, but that’s all it was. An appreciation. I can remember the exact moment when I tipped over into all out fandom. It was this pivotal scene between Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale on The Wire.
Just look at the lushness of those lights behind them. Brilliant.
I didn’t remember this scene when watching the scene at the end of Season 5 between Dukie and Michael. But there it is. Avon and Stringer reminiscing about the more innocent time when they stole badminton equipment and later, Dukie and Michael reminiscing about that wonderful time they got hit with balloons full of piss.
