crumbler:

“Moments of the Year 2010,” Crumbler. Earlier this month, Tom Ewing wrote a great Guardian column about why we should spend more time celebrating great moments within songs: “… While we organise our listening by tracks and albums it’s often the moments we actually listen for. Riffs and hooks, verbal flourishes and narrative payoffs – these provide pop’s most immediate and repeatable pleasures.” One of his examples is Sir Ian McKellen’s hilarious monologue this year in Scissor Sisters’ “Invisible Light,” which happens to be one of my favorites as well. Inspired, I put together a quick rundown of my 10 favorite moments of 2010, incorporating all of them into a six-minute podcast. Feel free to reply or reblog with a favorite musical moment that I missed.

Off topic, but does Casey sound a little like Dan Savage?

UPDATE: Also, I love this, and I loved it more when I realized what it was called. I mostly listen to whatever Crumbler, Cake or Death, About-Today and By the People tell me to. (Although, Casey, I have some words for you about “Ex-Girl Collection” that I think about posting whenever you mention it. And I really like that song, but where you see self-loathing, I see self-pity. Maybe it’s just cause I’ve been in love with that guy, but it all seems like an excuse to me.)
